I wanted to post a few pictures of our Great Dane puppy we got a couple of weeks ago. I've always been a fan of the little, Paris Hilton-type, squirmy but cute dogs. But oh no...that is NOT what Brad Jones wanted. He wanted "a big manly dog". And I think we got that PLUS a lot more. Just a background on Moose (or as I call him when I get home Moosa Loosa)...we got him from a place that had his mom and dad onsite. His dad is a whimpy 200 pounds. Let me tell you that when this BEAST came to the door after we rang the doorbell, I wanted to RUN. I had never seen a Great Dane in real life, but this dude was GINORMOUS. Anyway- Brad fell in love at first sight with little Moose, so now he (along with all his huge poop fests) is OURS'. It's fun, but it really IS like having a kid around. We have invested more money on this pup and his Colossal crate (that me and a friend could sleep in), his chew toys, his food (he's already sucking down over 2 cups twice a day), and all his other necessities. We love Moose, and Moose loves us. He's awesome...He's going to be even more awesome after Obedience School. And I can't wait for all the people that are going to point and laugh when they see me walking my small black pony. Who needs alarm systems when you have a Moose to protect you???

Beach Weekend
The long weekend went by way too fast! I was so glad to get a break- no matter how short it was. The beach was awesome! Beautiful weather, family time, great food, and sunburns! There were SO many people at the beach, and the waiting times at restaurants averaged about 2 hours. We went to Bayside Grill, and when they told us the wait was at least 2 hours we all said under our breath "yeah right". Then- 2 hours later and stuffed with appetizers, we said "Let's go." Yes, we really left after waiting that long. :) We figured we wouldn't actually be getting our meals until like 10:30 pm, and that would just be disgusting to go home and go to bed after eating that late. Anyway- overall, the Memorial Day was great and relaxing.
On a downer note, I have a sad beach story as well. It was the first time I've ever experienced something like we did, and I hope it's the last. Monday afternoon, we all were on our balcony and we looked down to see all these people (like at least 100) standing at the edge of the water. There was a jetski racing around and also what looked like 5 life guards swimming out in the waves. Also, a coast guard ship was coming into that area as well. So Dani, Kevin, Brad, and I decide to go take a stroll down the beach and see what all the commotion is about. We get down there, only to be told that a man started drowing about 30 minutes earlier. 2 guys went in to save him, but he was pulling them under so they had to leave him. He had not been seen since...
We had been standing there about 15 minutes, when I look over and realize that the lifeguards are at the shoreline CARRYING A BODY OUT. You have no idea the gut wrenching feeling of seeing that- I did not know this man. No ONE on the beach knew this man. The paramedics laid him down, hooked him up, shocked him twice, and nothing happened. Over 100 people just witnessed this man's death. They covered him up with beach towels and put him on a board and took him slowly away on a 4 wheeler. People everywhere were crying- I can't even explain it. Tears filled my eyes, and I didn't know him. I think that was the saddest part about it was that he had appeared to be at the beach alone. Needless to say, we all walked back to the condo in silence. I thought about it the whole rest of the day and still do. It makes me thankful that I have a family who loves me. We all need to remember to be grateful for all the wonderful people in our lives. Life is so fragile- tell the people you love that you LOVE them.

And I almost forgot...
Today we're leaving for Memorial Day weekend at my family's condo in Orange Beach!!! Woo hoo! I haven't been down there in forever, and I cannot wait until 5:00 gets here so we can head to the ocean! (oh don't worry- it's only 7 hours...yikes...we will load up on Starbucks I guess) My mom and dad are already on their way, and Danielle and her boyfriend Kevin are on their way too. :( The only family we'll be missing are Slade and Julia, but they are in Hawaii celebrating their 5 year wedding anniversary! Yayy for them and yayy for their baby on the way! Keep them in your prayers as they had trouble the first go round staying pregnant. Anyway- the weekend should be tons of fun, and the forecast shows BEAUTIFUL weather all weekend. I love the beach. Bring on the gumbo...
My lovely fiance
I've got to use this post today to brag on my sweet fiance...Yesterday was pretty much an all-around terrible day for more reasons than one. With my "pre-wedding" nerves already on edge, other negative events during the day didn't help. Basically, I felt like I was going to have a breakdown and cry like a little girl, at any point...But after work (right before I thought I was gonna lose it), Brad gave me a gift card to FinishLine to go buy some new running shoes! Yayyy for shoes! My face lit up and my worries were DONE because I was about to be out the door and off to the mall to get some new kicks. It couldn't have been timed more perfectly.
So- I got some sweet new shoes. They are awesome! Black and white air maxes (see picture). I put them on and felt unstoppable. I also needed socks, so I splurged for a $6 pair of nike air max no show tab sock in LIME GREEN....they're flippin sweet. And I also got some UnderArmor running shorts that are awesome too. So I've got the whole "workout LOOK" down to a science, but now I've actually got to make myself workout. :)
